Fiddle and Banjo Old Time masterclass with Benny Bleu and Titus Stevens
Open to old time musicians on any instrument at any level. We'll dissect our roles as old time musicians and talk about how players on other instruments think. We'll explore how to work together, how to listen to each other, and most importantly – how to support each other! We'll talk about rhythm, melody, harmony, what 'rules' to follow, what 'rules' to break, and we'll be sure to get a lot of playing in. Bring your instrument, your questions, your friends, and your love of sharing tunes!

BENNY BLEU & TITUS STEVENS--
For fans of Bruce Molsky, Tatiana Hargreaves and Allison DeGroot, Foghorn String Band
Old time banjo and fiddle, geological folk songs, tall tales about small squirrels. Hailing all the way from East Rodentia, Benny Bleu and Titus Stevens take you on a journey through ancient forests and over future mountains with a soothing locomotion in their playing that leaves the audience relaxed and in deep conversation.
Benny Bleu, an old-time banjo player, songwriter, and geologist from the Finger Lakes of New York, connects our ecologies, both environmental and cultural, through trance-like instrumentals and love songs written to the earth. Titus Stevens is a fiddler and mandolinist who grew up in a musical, urban-farming family in Buffalo's east side. Having played together for years at festivals and gatherings, and as members of Tyler Westcott's band, Benny and Titus recently launched their own string band – Rodentia. ( )
Benny's brand new albums, Banjo Meditations and Banjo Jubilations, were hailed as Bandcamp's top country music of June 2024 and rose to #2 on the folk radio charts, respectively.
“New York-native, Benny Bleu is a geologist by trade, banjo player and singer-songwriter who touches on our connections with the natural world and each other.” – Putumayo World Music
“… the banjo feeds your body’s Feel Good System…” – Bandcamp Daily
