About this Event
This course is for women and birthing people planning to give birth at The Royal London Hospital.
This course is for Bengali speaking women and birthing people. The course will be led by a Midwife along with a Bengali speaking advocate to translate.
Please book ONE ticket per couple (You and your support person)
Please cancel your ticket promptly if no longer required, so that someone else can book a space.
We recommend you aim to participate in these classes when you are around 26-30 weeks pregnant.
Course content:
- Birth settings, preparing for birth, discuss breathing techniques and ideas for supporters if you have them.
- Physiology of labour and birth, coping with labour, positions that may help, when to leave home and how to travel
- Deviations from physiological labour, medical interventions, induction of labour, both medical and natural and your choices. Methods of pain relief available at home and in your birth place.
- What to expect in the postnatal period; postnatal care and recovery and care of the newborn, including safe sleeping recomendations.
Each class lasts approximately one and a half hours, including breaks and is a two week course
This course is a face to face course and will be held in the Parent Education Classroom, Ward 8F, The Royal London Hospital, 8th Floor
The course aims to be an interactive, safe space for you to ask questions and actively participate.
