On Monday, October 27,2025, at 8:15am, Michael was on his drive to work in Berlin, WI when his life was altered instantly by a careless driver who was both unlicensed and uninsured. Through no fault of his own, the devastating crash at highway speeds resulted in severe injuries that nearly took Michael's life. Michael endured a terrifying 2-hour extraction from his truck receiving lifesaving blood products the entire time, Milwaukee's Flight For Life transported him to ThedaCare Neenah, he underwent 14 surgeries (with at least one more to come) and 90 days inpatient between 3 different Theda hospitals. Both of his femurs were broken/shattered, both arms broken in multiple places, both his orbital bones (eye sockets) and jaw were broken, and his bowel was perforated from the seatbelt demanding immediate surgery.
The entire dashboard of Michaels Chevy Silverado 2500 was on his lap crushing his legs while his arm was pinned behind the steering wheel, the airbags, and the caved in truck door. Fire and rescue worked tirelessly to keep him alive throughout the difficult extraction.
He has finally been able to come home and is on the mend, it is still difficult as he is left disabled and unable to work. Doctors estimate at least a year for recovery, but Michael is focused, determined, and against all odds is currently walking. He is a living breathing example of what a million miracles look like! Both of the spiritual and the medical technology kind.
Without the support of a regular paycheck and the responsible party being uninsured, there is no safety net to cover the mounting bills of basic daily living expenses, rent, utilities, travel/gas to appointments, and days off that Sarah (his girlfriend and caregiver) often needs. We have both already used our savings to get us this far and families' help has been exhausted.
Michael was, and will be again, an incredibly talented self-employed painter and drywaller, known for taking pride in his work and for his fairness and quality. Some of you have had the pleasure of having him paint your home or business, so you know his work speaks for itself.
He is an honest man, who is dealing with a terrible situation, but like a true warrior, he is doing it with grit and grace.
But. he needs our help!
That's where we come in.
