Ben is a natural & scintillating musician who has been playing the fiddle music of the USA, Sweden & Ireland since he was six. He toured widely with his father Tom Paley, The Long Hill Ramblers, Tab Hunter, The New Deal String Band & Sarah Grey & Kieron Means. He has recorded with Damon Albarn, Michael Nyman, McDermott’s Two Hours, Mandragora & The Levellers. His book Swedish Fiddle Music, An Anthology is the standard work on the subject in English. Ben will give us two forty-five minute sets and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience doing a song or tune if they wish.
During the day Ben leads a fiddle workshop from 10:45 - 16:15. Places are £45 (2 under-25-year-olds £22). Email valmaigoodyear[at]aol[dot]com to reserve places, bring the right money in cash on the night.
Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
