About this Event
Join Leanne, jewellery artist of Metal and Dust on a journey into the world of Celtic celebrations, ritual and Amulets.
We will be designing and making protective charms that are designed to bring the wearer good fortune in the spirit of the fire festival Beltane.
Making something filled with meaning and intention that is personal, as they were always intended...
To create our Amulets, whether a ring, pendant, earrings or a brooch, we will be using the ancient process of lost wax casting to create a personal and symbolic amulet for the wearer. An alchemy that involves carving our designs out of wax, which will later be melted away and a silver piece formed in its place.
During the afternoon we will learning about the lost wax casting process, exploring imagery, stories and symbolism to create our designs, then spending what is left if the day to filing, carving and smoothing your wax using the tools provided.
At the end of the session, Leanne will take your creations to be cast into silver, hallmarked if desired. Then will polish and finish them before returning to you, ready to wear.
If an afternoon of magic, creativity and making is what you are looking for
I very much look forward to seeing you on the 27nd!
