#Belonging: A night to get you thinking about what "diversity" really means. Live performance, music, comedy and more.

Chicago, IL, The Hairpin Arts Center will host #Belonging on Thursday, August 18th at 7pm. This unique line-up tackles “very real societal issues and in doing so, invites the audience to take an unfiltered look at how belonging looks different when diversity comes into play.” Produced by Sarah Falkiner, a longtime CPS educator, Logan Square filmmaker, and Head Creative at Shytown Sugar Films, in partnership with The Hairpin Arts Center.

#Belonging’s dynamic line-up includes: Comedy by Aaron Chase; Spoken word by poets TGoddess & Trinity; Live music by 21H2, a short film block with Tarleton-Dawn Productions award winning “Karen”, Lomai’s “Black Dude Lives”, world premiere of Sarah Falkiner’s “White Female”; and the world premiere of Tommy Sigmon’s 10-minute stage play, “Backward Lament”. The evening will be hosted by Senyah Haynes, “just a sista in the struggle…”

Doors open at 7:00 PM, and tickets are $20.00, available at Eventbrite; there is a cash/electronic payment bar on site.The Hairpin Arts Center is located on the second floor of 2810 North Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60618. All proceeds from sales will benefit the nonprofit, Cure Violence Global whose mission is to “reduce violence globally using disease control and behavior change methods.”
