The art of playing finger cymbals while dancing has been prevailing in Egypt, Turkey, and more for centuries and is a skill that brings not only extra sparkle to your dance, but a really good MENTAL WORKOUT to your brain!
Discover the absolute FUN it is to play zills and the challenge yourself to play while dancing, which is a skill that becomes easier, and easier with practice until one day you’ll will feel naked dancing without it!
In these weekly sessions you will learn proper zill-playing techniques, various sounds you can produce with them, train your ear to detect musical patterns, practice various zill patterns that can be applied to most music, and get comfortable performing classic bellydance moves while playing zills.
I play zills all the time while performing my regular weekly shows, and am a trained musician who loves making music accessible to those with little to no prior musical training.
No zills experience needed, but you must have a set in class. A few sets will be available for sharing but you should get your own and adjust the elastic to fit your fingers ahead of time. You can purchase a set here (the lowest tier will do just fine if you’re just starting out):
