Belly Dance Off is a full-scale interactive show featuring belly dancers competing to live music chosen on the spot, with live judge feedback and a voting audience!

The audience enjoys delicious dinner and entertainment filled with glamour, education, passion, and traditional Middle Eastern music as dancers enter in their best costumes and perform their hearts out to music randomly drawn from a hat!

With live judge feedback, the audience gains insights along with the dancers on the belly dance art form and the secrets of entertaining and polished performance entirely improvised with live music. Together with the judges, they score the dancers and help decide the winner!

Each judge panel consists of two masters of belly dance performance with live music, plus one expert from a different performing arts genre. Together, this panel of three provides feedback and insights across a broad range of perspectives. Judges for 2025 are Heather Louise of Portland, Indigo of Seattle, and Ian Howe, choreographer, teacher, and dancer with several contemporary dance companies and Artistic Director of Pac West Performing Arts.

Since founding in 2010, Belly Dance Off has held 26 events in 8 venues across 3 cities. Each event features a different mix of dancers, musicians, and judges, with a relentless focus on theatrical quality, entertainment, and widespread audience engagement.

This year’s event takes place at Harissa in Seattle’s Ravenna area. Guests will select from a full Mediterranean menu by Chef Walid. Ticket prices do not include food or beverages. The audience is also invited for impromptu participation, with a special prize for best shimmies!
