Why is bellydance a good workout?

Bellydance is a full-body workout disguised as celebration. Its moves target every muscle group to build strength, flexibility, grace, and improved posture. For example, undulations sculpt your abs and increase back mobility, shimmies power up your legs while shaking off stress, and arm waves tone your arms and shoulders while improving mobility. Even the smallest isolations — hips, chest, and hands — activate muscles you didn’t even know you had! And that’s just the beginning — bellydance offers a rich variety of movements that challenge your body in new and exciting ways and keeps you motivated and inspired.

Along the way, you’ll build stamina, boost heart–lung capacity, and release tension from both your body and your soul.

What to expect in class:

Get ready for a dynamic mix of bellydance drills, combos, and games that tone your body while keeping things fresh and engaging. You’ll dance to the infectious beats of Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, and more. Occasionally, dance props like veils will be added for extra beauty, challenge, and fun.
Each session ends with a dance party that brings everyone together to apply and strengthen your new skills, get inspired by others, and form a real connection with your dance sisters!

What Should I Wear/ Bring?

Any comfortable workout clothes, preferably form-fitted so we can check your form and help correct it if needed, and a bottle of water (there is a water fountain to refill if you need). Hip scarves add sparkle and fun and we have plenty of them at the studio for you to use if you didn't bring your own!
