Val-Dieu Abbey was founded by monks in 1216 and is the only Belgian abbey to survive the French Revolution. The community still resides there and is part of the Cistercian Order. The monks are famous for brewing and inspiring beers with their original recipes.
Verhaeghe Vichte brewery in Belgium has produced high-quality beer since 1885. Its unique identity is showcased through the "Duchess of Burgundy" - a red-brown beer matured in oak casks using an ancient method.
