Behind the Screams: Tour of Luna Park

Luna Park recently turned ninety, and one feels the old girl has earned a proper celebration.
To mark the occasion, we are offering something rather special: an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of one of Sydney's most beloved - and frankly most bonkers - landmarks. A genuine, intact Art Deco amusement park, sitting there on the harbour since 1935, grinning its enormous grin at anyone who cares to look.
Walkley Award winning author will be your guide, drawing on her latest book about this heritage-listed icon to serve up the architecture, the rides, and the sort of real-life drama that makes one's hair stand pleasingly on end.
And because we do things properly here, this tour will take place outside normal park opening hours, so we'll have the place largely to ourselves, which is either thrilling or mildly eerie, depending on your feelings about enormous fibreglass faces after dark.

Tour Details
- You will need to make your own way to Luna Park - but don't worry, it's easy to reach by train, ferry or bus. Parking is available though spaces may be limited and can be pricey, starting at $8/hr
- This is a walking tour so be sure to wear comfy shoes. Parts of the tour will be outdoors, and September weather can be changeable - dressing in layers is a great idea.
- This is a self catered event, so please plan accordingly. There are plenty of lovely cafes in the vicinity or you're welcome to bring along a little picnic to enjoy afterwards, because why not.
Not a member? For the price of two forgettable cocktails, you could have a year of films, events and unfettered access to our library which, we should note, is suspiciously well-stocked with M**der mysteries. One might even call it an alibi for a good time.
