Weaving is a relaxing practice that results in the creation of cloth, or a beautiful wall hanging. In this two hour workshop with Amelia Shull you will learn all the basic techniques to continue your own projects beyond the class, including the language of Warp and Weft, tabby/plain weave, color-blocking, rya knots and improvisational techniques including the use of repurposed materials. Now is a wonderful time to learn the foundations of weaving, and imagine all the metaphoric ways you can create a practice that is soothing, productive, and peaceful.
All levels are welcome, we will be using cardboard and frame looms and you will learn how to make your own from cheap or free materials.
There will be other looms on hand to explore and experiment with. While all supplies are provided, feel free to bring a shirt or garment or piece of fabric you'd be willing to creatively reuse in your project.
Supplies are provided.
