Beginning tango dance classes with Luz Castineiras in Berkeley (four dates)

Join us for tango classes with Luz Castineiras in February! Luz is a highly experienced tango teacher who teaches fun, active classes. In the beginner class, she introduces the fundamentals of social tango. Learn lead-follow technique and simple, elegrant figures.

Wednesdays, February 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th
6:45 pm: check-in
7:00-8:00 pm: beginning tango series
8:00-8:30 pm: practica

The beginner class is open to all levels. We also hold an intermediate-level class at 8:30 pm on the same dates.

These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.

No partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class.We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes, but drop-ins are also welcome.The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions!

Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediates may arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.

$80 general admission (four classes in February, beg. or int.)
$25 general admission (single class, beg. or int.)
$15 student with ID (single class, beg. or int.)
We accept cash and venmo at the door.

Parking alert: There are Cal basketball games on Wednesday, Feb. 4th and Wednesday, Feb. 25th. Please leave extra time for parking, or plan to park in a paid lot, or use BART, bus, or bike!

Drinks are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge, across the hall from the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the dance classes. Event organized by Lindsey Newbold.
