In January, we welcome Mira Barakat back to teach tango at the Berkeley City Club! Mira's tango classes emphasize the dance technique that makes social tango possible. In the beginner class, she introduces the core movements of social tango. In the intermediate class, she teaches interesting variations on fundamental figures. 8:00-8:30 pm: practica
8:30-9:30 pm: intermediate tango series
9:30-10:00 pm: practica
The beginner class is open to all levels. The intermediate class is geared towards people who have been dancing for at least three months (12 tango classes).
These classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers,” and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.
No partner necessary; the teacher encourages people to switch partners throughout the class.
We encourage everyone to sign up for all four classes, but drop-ins are also welcome.
The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions! Beginners may stay and watch the intermediate class. Intermediates may arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners.
$80 general admission (four classes, beg. or int.)
$25 general admission (single class, beg. or int.)
$15 student with ID (single class, beg. or int.)
