*For those of you who have attended this class in the past, please note the change in day and time. The class now meets on Tuesdays in January at 6-7 PM.*
You are more than welcome to attend if you have attended in the past, and you need not attend all four sessions.
Did you always want to learn how to play the piano, or did you take lessons in the past? Do you just want to be able to pick out a melody and harmonize it at the piano? Join us for this in-person/online hybrid class for four Tuesdays in January. You need not know how to read music, although it will help if you have some familiarity with it.
Columbus Public Library Adult Program Coordinator Catherine Brick holds a BMus degree from Lawrence University and a MMus degree from UW-Madison. She taught in private and public schools at the high school and middle school levels, and has taught adults throughout her career. Her teaching approach emphasizes outcomes over technique. This fully hands-on, no-nonsense piano approach will quickly have you playing for fun.
The library has six portable keyboards available for checkout on a first-come, first-served basis, which can be reserved by calling the library in advance. We will provide easy-to-follow instructional materials to all who attend, either in digital form or as a print book that may be checked out.
A limit of five attendees using portable keyboards may meet in the lower level of the library. (We will use headphones, so no one will be able to hear you unless you choose to dazzle us with your progress!) All others will attend online via Zoom.
Register on our website or Facebook page and indicate whether you will attend online or in person. After you register, you will receive an email confirmation and a digital copy of the course materials. The entire course is free and open to the public.

For questions about how to check out the keyboards, or any other questions about this class, call the library at 920-623-5910 or contact Catherine Brick, Adult Services Coordinator, at the library or by email at [email protected].
