About this Event
Are you curious about growing your own vegetables, but don’t have a large garden? Container gardening is the perfect way to get started! Whether you live in an apartment, have limited space, or simply want to try something new, this workshop will show you how easy and rewarding it can be to grow food in pots, buckets, and grow bags.
Fee: $5 cash at the door
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn:
- The best types of containers to use (grow bags, buckets, garden towers, and more)
- How to create a simple, healthy soil mix for thriving plants
- Which vegetables and herbs grow best in containers in Hawaii
- Tips for watering, fertilizing, and keeping pests away
- Common beginner mistakes to avoid
We’ll also do a live planting demo, and you’ll get practical tips that you can use right away to start your own container garden at home. Participants will recieve a starter kit to start your own container garden at home.
UGC Guidelines:
- Parents/guardians must provide supervision of minors during the event to ensure their safety and security.
- All participants will be asked to sign a UH consent waiver form upon arrival.
- Bring drinking water to stay hydrated.
- Wear appropriate outdoor attire: shoes and sun protection.
- Only guide dogs are allowed at UGC. No pets allowed.
