Beginning Bookmaking: Poems to Books (Accordion and Matchbook Binding)

Facilitator Demi Anter will lead participants through construction, with additional exercises and advice to inspire the content.

Supplies will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring any additional creative materials they might like to incorporate, from photographs to postcards, markers, fabrics and more, to further personalize their books.

Prior experience in bookmaking is not necessary. The workshop is open to all skill sets and experience levels. Each participant will leave with at least one handmade book.

About the Instructor:

Demi Anter is an award-winning artist and facilitator. She regularly conducts workshops at institutions in the US, Europe and UK, including the Irish Cultural Centre, Women Writing Berlin Lab, WORD! Leicester, UC Santa Barbara and more. Her books are in the collections of UCSB’s Special Collections and the National Poetry Library (UK).
