Our two hour Beginner’s Workshop is the perfect introductory session to textile screen printing!
About this Event

What will happen during the workshop?
You will be introduced to the basic techniques of textile screen printing, using blank screens and paper stencils to create prints. You will have the chance to experiment and create a range of samples, focusing on colour, shape and texture. You will then move on to print a personalised tote bag.

I have never done screen printing before, can I come?
Of course - the workshop is suitable for all skills levels. Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is necessary.

Equipment Provided:
Equipment and materials such as screens, squeegees, a range of ink colours, newsprint paper, cutting mats and knives are all included. We will also provide fabric samples and a tote bag, however you are welcome to bring any additional fabric for printing along with you - natural fabrics such as a plain cotton or linen give the best results. Likewise if you have a garment which you would like to print your design onto, you are welcome to bring that along too!

Your Tutor:
Rachel is a printed textile designer and graduate of Glasgow School of Art’s BA (Hons) Textile Design. She is an experienced art workshop host and joined Print Clan as Studio Graduate in April 2023 through GCAS scheme.

Terms and Conditions:
This course is open to all abilities - no prior experience of screen printing is needed.

We offer discounted concession rates on our core workshops and course programme to help widen access for individuals who may face barriers to arts participation. Please read the additional information below for further details.

Cancellation Policy
We will refund you in full minus a 5% booking fee if you cancel no less than seven days before the start of the course, after which no refunds will be issued. Once booked we may be able to transfer you to another course, but we cannot guarantee it.
We reserve the right to cancel the course for any reason (for example, insufficient bookings). We will endeavour to give at least 7 days notice if the course is cancelled and in the event of cancellation we will, of course, issue you a full refund.

Concession Rates Policy

A discounted ticket price for our core workshops and course programme is available to individuals who are: existing Print Clan members; students; graduates (valid for one year post-graduation); senior citizens (aged 65+); unemployed/jobseekers; disabled; or referred by one of our selected third sector partner organisations (ESOL Scotland, Articulate Trust, The Marie Trust, Govanhill Baths, Slaghammers, Empower Women for Change, Protests and Suffragettes and Music Broth).

Photocopied or digital proof of status must be provided in person or via email to [email protected] after purchase to validate the concession rate. If this cannot be provided, you will be asked to pay the difference to a full-priced ticket before attending.

Existing Print Clan members do not need to provide evidence. This will be validated internally against our current active member list. The concession is only applicable to the member themselves and is non-transferable.
