This introductory Aerial Yoga course gently lifts you into better fitness, greater flexibility, and a calmer, clearer mind. It’s a playful way to build strength while giving your wellbeing a beautiful boost.Performing Yoga poses with the Yoga Hammock promotes a deep sense of relaxation, safety and nurture. Utilising deep diaphragmatic breathing, we will let go of any tension from the body and mind. The contact with the hammock, combined with the diaphragmatic breathing all activates the PNS (Parasympathetic Nervous System), the calm and resting side of our nervous system.�
The hammock also allows for extra support in poses, and is a great aid in balancing poses.
Within the 6 weeks of this course you will experience the more meditative and relaxing side of Aerial Yoga with Yin (restorative) classes. The Yin postures will be held for 2-3 minutes, but will require very little if not any exertion, allowing you to gently relax into the pose. You will also experience the more active side of Aerial Yoga working on balancing poses and the core, whilst being aided and supported by the hammock, and all at your own pace.
We also have the added benefit of being able to perform inversions (hanging upside down). Inversions are a fun and great way to calm the mind also. Once you are able to relax into the inversion, and focus on the breath the mind starts to relax. It is thought that the increased blood flow to the head provides the brain and the mind with more energy. This extra energy allows the mind to quieten down. In Yoga philosophy it is said that the more balanced energy we can cultivate through breath-work and postures, the more the mind relaxes. So inversions allow us to experience this in a relaxed, safe and supported way.
This wonderful combination of Yoga with the hammock will give you the time to calm your mind and nervous system, leaving you more peaceful, grounded and balanced, whilst improving your focus, and attention.

Please be aware the Yoga Hammock can sometimes cause friction or bruise the skin in certain poses. With repetition the body becomes used to it. Like with any sport or exercise when using equipment their is a risk. The swaying of the hammock and inversions can sometimes trigger motion sickness for those that suffer with it. This can be treated with the use of acupressure bands, we have some bands at the studio but please bring your own if you know you suffer with motion sickness.

All equipment is provided. Please wear comfortable Yoga/Gym Clothing. Please arrive 10 mins before the session starts.
