Beginner Street Jazz Intensive with Carlos Neto (NYC)

Welcome to the 7th edition of our one-day intensive by Carlos Neto in NYC.

If you did not attend the previous ones, don't worry! Every workshop is structured differently in order to give everyone (new students and previous students) a fresh and new experience while working on important fundamentals.

This course is designed for those who wish to start taking group dance classes for the first time as well as those who have already started but want to reach a higher level in their dance ability, in a friendly environment that explores movement beyond just steps.

In this Intensive we will work on how to translate simple movement into a more developed and complete performance with the help of drills, grooves, choreography fundamentals and execution techniques. We will also aim to explore techniques for faster pick up and choreography memorization.

Advanced dancers who want to work on fundamentals are also welcome.

COURSE BREAKDOWN:

First Half

Introduction and Class Etiquette.
Warm up and Brief Work Out.
Short Combinations (drills and grooves), Teamwork (working with other dancers).
Approach to textures, speed changes and points of reference.

Second Half

Work on Pick Up Skills (Learn Faster).
Longer Combinations and Repetition.
Performance and Engagement with the Audience.

VENUE:

The intensive will be held at Ripley Grier Studios in midtown Manhattan. The exact studio number will be announced 1 day prior to the event on March 14th.

10am-2pm (there will be one short break)
