About this Event
In this beginner-friendly sewing workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of machine sewing while creating your own lined zippered pouch perfect for carrying sewing notions, makeup, cables, tools, art supplies, or everyday essentials.
We’ll cover:
- How a sewing machine works
- How to thread the machine and wind a bobbin
- Basic stitch control and fabric handling
- Sewing straight seams and corners
- Tips to avoid common beginner mistakes
- Finishing and assembling a zippered pouch project
By the end of class, you’ll leave with practical sewing knowledge and a completed zippered pouch you made yourself.
No experience required. Absolute beginners welcome.
Machines and materials provided.
Small class sizes help keep the environment relaxed, hands-on, and supportive.
What to Bring
Just yourself! All materials are provided.
(Optional: bring your own sewing machine if you'd like help learning your specific machine. IMPORTANT: Please bring the manual or look it up online and print it out.)

Class is held at RavenFlux Studios in NW Pasadena, CA 91103 — near the Fairoaks Ave area. Free street parking is available. Exact address and any arrival notes will be sent via email after you register.
Instructor
Raven is a maker, welder, and hands-on educator passionate about helping people build creative skills and confidence. Over the past eight years she has designed and constructed costumes for masquerade balls and immersive themed events, where sewing, fabrication, and imagination come together. She enjoys helping beginners discover that sewing is an accessible and empowering creative skill.
