*This is a hybrid class being held both at the Parlor Room for local participants and on Zoom.*
Zoom participants will register the same way as in person participants.
Erin will see who is remote and will set them up accordingly for each workshop.
BEGINNING SONGWRITING WITH ERIN MCKEOWN
Do you have words and melodies in your life? Do you have thoughts and beliefs you’ve always wanted to turn into music? This beginner class with songwriter Erin McKeown will teach you concepts and techniques to organize and express yourself in song. We’ll learn what makes a song a song, we’ll try our hand at several different kinds of songs, we’ll learn to write with our peers, and we’ll support each other along the way. You will be asked to work outside of class as you complete some basic assignments. While it can be a help, you do not need to play an instrument to join this class. Students can expect to leave the class with two complete songs, and an end of semester concert (at the iron horse??) will give students the opportunity to share what they’ve written.
Both of these classes will be taught in person, but are available to participate in online as well.
