Beginner Magickal Knitting & Crochet - Learn to make a scarf or altar cloth with DanielaApril 11th and April 26th (Both days for this project)
Time: 3 - 6 (Both days)
Fee: $65 (PREPAID) Includes two days
Where yarn carries the magick and hands remember ancient wisdom.
In our next beginner class, we will continue deepening the magick of working with fiber and building up on the introductory beginner knitting/crochet skills, working slowly, intentionally, and in harmony with the magick of long ago.
You are not just “learning to knit” or “learning to crochet.”
You are learning how to:
- Connect your work with yarn to your magickal workings
- Anchor intentions or blessings into simple stitches
- Create beautiful and functional items even with beginner skills
- Turn practice into altar work and keep expanding the magick of your craft
Using foundational beginner stitches, you will learn how to create either:
🕯 A small altar cloth (like the one pictured, a sacred ground for your cards, candles, tea, or spellwork).
or
A simple, flowing scarf infused with your own intentions and blessings
Both projects require the same skills, and both start the same. You will have full guidance while also knowing the fork in the road where you decide whether to shapeshift your piece into an altar cloth or a scarf. The project is designed to strengthen your confidence while honoring the rhythm of repetition, which is the first doorway on the path of fiber magick.
In addition to beginner crochet and knitting skills, you will also learn how to
Use a yarn sewing needle to add color and symbol to your beginner knitting.
This is where we will encounter the second doorway on the path of fiber magick: color and symbols. Behind this doorway, your stitches can become sigils and your projects can begin to hold another layer of the magick.
Supplies: You will receive handouts and patterns for both the altar cloth and the scarf as well as a mini skein of cotton yarn in pale lavender color to serve for practice of the skills and learning in class.
You will want to obtain a skein of your favorite yarn and color for the actual project. Think about the fiber type and color that you would prefer, and choose what aligns with your intentions for the final piece you will make. The pattern will work best for worsted weight yarn and knitting needle size US 6 to US 8 or crochet hook size US H, I or J.
