In this beginner-friendly class, Valerie will guide you through the essentials for successful houseplant care and proper transplanting techniques. Topics include a brief houseplant history lesson, light requirements, proper watering patterns, substrates and soil mixes, plant nutrients, and how to identify and manage common pests and diseases.
After the presentation, you will choose a foliage plant from our collection and transplant it into a larger container. Valerie will demonstrate proper potting techniques and be available to answer questions as you work.
This is Valerie’s 4th season at the Green Barn. A longtime houseplant enthusiast, she will earn her Associate’s Degree in Horticulture at Hennepin Technical Community College. While all plants are created equal, her favorite plants are ones kept indoors year-round! Join Valerie for an exciting opportunity to expand your plant collection!
