About this Event
Join printmaker and illustrator Abbie Lois for a relaxed and welcoming lino printing workshop, where you’ll design, carve and hand-print your own cotton-tote bag.
Perfect for book lovers, curious beginners, and creatives looking to try something new, this session offers a calm and encouraging introduction to the art of relief printmaking. No prior experience is needed!
You’ll be guided step-by-step through the full lino printing process, from transferring your design to carving safely and confidently, before inking up and pulling your final prints by hand. During the workshop, you’ll learn helpful tips and tricks to help you make the most out of the lino printing process.
An assortment of inspiration imagery will be provided on the day, but you’re very welcome to bring your own ideas if you’d like to personalise your design. You'll be carving either a few small repeat patterns on lino measuring 75x75mm, or a larger, standalone design on lino measuring 150x100mm (there will even be a 200x150mm size lino if you're feeling really ambitious!). You can plan an image to fit in those dimensions if you wish, but please feel free to come along to the class and try dream up a spontaneous design!
What you’ll learn

- How to create a simple, effective design for printing
