About Bolokada Condé
Bolokada Condé is a world-renowned djembefola (master drummer) from Guinea, West Africa, recognized as one of the greatest living players and teachers of the djembe. He is an expert in Malinke rhythms and a sought-after instructor, known for his energy, charm, and deep connection to tradition.
Originally a young musical prodigy in Guinea’s Sankaran region, Bolokada became the premier djembe player at major village celebrations. His mastery led him to join the legendary Les Percussions de Guinée—an international performing group representing Guinea, West Africa, where he replaced the great Noumoudy Keïta as their lead drummer. he has performed on the world’s biggest stages and was even featured in the IMAX film PULSE: A Stomp Odyssey.
Bolokada has served as musical director and lead soloist musical director and lead soloist for multiple dance companies, including Ballet Waraba (NC), Ballet Wassa-Wassa (CA), and Les Percussion Malinke (SF Bay Area). He has conducted workshops across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa, even substituting for the legendary Famoudou Konaté in Canada in 2012.
Bolokada returns to Guinea frequently, ensuring that his knowledge of Malinke rhythms and traditions remains deeply rooted in their cultural origins. His playing is fast, precise, and deeply expressive, and his teaching is infused with joy and authenticity.
