Summer Beginner Band Camp
Washington Middle School will be offering a Summer Band Camp to sixth-grade students enrolled in Beginning Band at Washington Middle School and Margaret Buerkle Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Our Beginner Summer Band Camp will be held at the Nottelmann Auditorium (3200 Lemay Ferry Rd). Camp has a half-day or full-day option, with students learning the basics of tone production, rhythmic reading and counting and note reading, all while becoming acclimated with their chosen band instrument in the morning portion of camp. For Full Day Students, there will be lunchtime (bring a sack lunch), Recreation Time (ping pong tournaments, board games, swimming time, or movie), followed by music enrichment classes (based on Music Theory and Music History), and Marching Band Observation. Students will also receive a camp t-shirt and a daily snack. On Thursday, students will present a demonstration at 12:30 for family and friends and will be dismissed by 1:00.
If you are renting an instrument from Nottelmann Music and have signed their contract, they will deliver your instrument to the Auditorium prior to camp.
Dates for this 4-Day Camp:
Monday, August 3rd - Thursday, August 6th
Half-Day Option: 9:00 AM - 12:30 ($100)
Full Day Option: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM ($150)
There will be a 30-minute Before/After Care Option available, for an additional fee. Teachers:The Band Directors at Washington and Buerkle Middle Schools, along with a Private Lesson Staff of Professional Musicians from the Community
