About this Event

Beetles Save Needles — The Hemlock Story

Join us in person for an exciting dive into the world of hemlock trees and the tiny heroes battling to save them — the beetles!

We have successfully controlled the hemlock woolly adelgid in the High Country of NC using a winter-active predatory beetle native to the Pacific Northwest. We will have beetles, larvae, field sampling, and use bioremediation with compounds such as Phosphite. Attendees will receive guide sheets, sample forms, and inclusion in other forest health projects.

Discover how these incredible insects play a crucial role in protecting our forests and why the story of the hemlock is one you don’t want to miss. Come curious, leave inspired!
