Swiss-Italian pianist Francesco Pietmontesi takes the stage with the CSO as both chamber musician and concerto virtuoso, performing one of Beethoven’s most beautiful piano concertos of all time. Sweet and intimate, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 broke all convention in its day by opening with the delicate chords of solo piano. Then, Manuel de Falla’s ballet score to the Three-Cornered Hat sets a lighthearted story (a love triangle) to dances full to the brim with Spanish flair and castanets.Program:
