La Symphonie n° 6 « Pastorale » nous transporte loin de la ville, dans la campagne et les sous-bois dépeints par Beethoven. Elle trouve aujourd’hui un écho dans les préoccupations environnementales en rappelant la fragilité de la nature qui nous entoure. Avec son funeste deuxième mouvement, l’épique Symphonie n° 7 est quant à elle parmi les plus évocatrices du répertoire. De la campagne au drame, on s’évade à coup sûr du quotidien.

Each program will feature two or three Beethoven symphonies, rounded out by the premiere of a piece written by a winner of the Beethoven Heritage competition, presented by Power Corporation of Canada in 2020, an initiative spearheaded by the OM and its artistic director. These young composers bring a modern perspective to Beethoven’s influence on today’s world and to his work’s social and political themes.
Symphony No. 6, “Pastoral,” will transport you from the hustle and bustle of the city to the rolling hills of the countryside. The piece echoes contemporary environmental concerns, evoking the fragility of our natural surroundings. With its ominous second movement, the epic Symphony No. 7 is one of the most evocative pieces in the repertoire. From the deep woods to high drama, get ready for an escape from your day-to-day.
