About this Event
As part of Boulder Symphony’s Beethoven Festival, this intimate chamber concert traces Beethoven’s remarkable evolution from his bold middle period to the visionary heights of his late style. Featuring internationally acclaimed University of Colorado Boulder faculty artists Andrea Segar, Meta Weiss, and David Korevaar, the program pairs the radiant “Archduke” Trio with the monumental “Hammerklavier” Sonata. The “Archduke” offers Beethoven at his most lyrical and expansive, balancing nobility, warmth, humor, and emotional depth. In contrast, the “Hammerklavier” stands as one of his most daring and profound achievements—grand in scale, rich in dramatic contrasts, and crowned by a legendary fugue. Together, these masterpieces reveal a composer pushing beyond tradition in search of something transcendent. It’s a rare opportunity to experience Beethoven’s inner world up close, in music of immense beauty, power, and spiritual depth.
