Beer and Bonsai Workshop at Nueces Brewing and Barbecuing

Enjoy a laid-back, social workshop where you’ll learn the fundamentals of bonsai while sipping a beer. This class is designed to be fun, beginner-friendly, and informative.

You’ll learn how to:

• Pot and style your own bonsai tree
• Trim and shape for long-term growth
• Maintain your tree in the South Texas climate
• Build ramification and develop a dense canopy

Each participant will receive a Portulacaria afra (Dwarf Jade) bonsai—an ideal species that thrives in heat and humidity, making it perfect for our region. Great for both beginners and experienced enthusiasts.

Gilbert will guide you step-by-step through the entire process:

• Removing your tree from its nursery container
• Root pruning and preparation
• Repotting into a bonsai container
• Securing (tie-down technique)
• Proper trimming and styling techniques

• 2-3 year old pre-trained Dwarf Jade bonsai tree

• Plastic training bonsai pot

• Bonsai Soil

• Fertilizer

• Accent plant (Sedum Acre) & bonsai rock

• Trimming shears

• Bonsai sticker

• And of course ... a Ticket to Redeem One Beer
