Mason bees are the perfect pollinators: gentle, easy to raise, and fun to watch. In this workshop, you'll learn all about these extraordinary solitary, no-sting pollinators and how to raise them in your backyard.
This workshop will be great for absolute beginners and those who have some experience with mason bees and want to learn more.
We will cover:
- Mason bees as easy care, gentle, super pollinators
- How best to manage them in the garden
- What to plant for mason bees
- Common pests and diseases and how to control them
- Annual maintenance of mason bee cocoons and houses
Leave with confidence about taking care of your mason bees and expanding your mason bee population.
Speaker Dr. Mary Bryson has been keeping mason bees for about a decade and cultivates mason bees in 5 different locations in the Lower Mainland and Gulf Islands. Mary is a Qualified Master Gardener and a professional educator.
Note: Workshop will take place outdoors, under cover. Please dress to stay warm and comfortable.
