About this Event
✨ What is this evening about?
An introduction to matrescence - the psychological, emotional and identity transition into motherhood.
Matrescence begins in pregnancy (however you arrive there). It continues to evolve over time and re-emerges with each child. There is no fixed timeline or neat end point.
Matrescence gives language to something many women feel but struggle to name.
It places the mother back at the centre of the story- not just caring for a baby, but navigating her own ongoing transformation.
⸻
Alongside understanding matrescence, we’ll begin building your own everyday matrescence toolkit.
Motherhood can be both beautiful and brutal - often at the same time. It brings a full spectrum of emotional experiences. Some are deeply wanted, others can feel uncomfortable or unexpected
When difficult or unwanted emotions show up - what do we do next?
⸻
This evening introduces a range of practical, evidence-based strategies (drawn from Clinical Psychology) to support you in those moments.
These tools are designed to help you:
• Respond to yourself with more steadiness and compassion
• Feel less overwhelmed by intense emotions
• Highly useable - even on very little sleep
Think of them as touchstones you can return to on harder days.
✨ Who is this for?
This is also for you if you’re not struggling, but:
• Want to better understand yourself in motherhood
• Value psychologically-informed insight
• Want to build tools before you need them
Because these strategies are most effective when they become familiar- something you can access more easily when harder days come.
This space is for every mother:
• Pregnant women (your matrescence has already begun)
• Mothers of babies and older children
• Anyone navigating ongoing identity shifts in motherhood
⸻
✨ What you’ll gain
• A clear understanding of matrescence
• Practical, simple tools for everyday motherhood
• Space to pause and reflect
• Connection with like-minded women
• A sense of beginning to build your village
• Take-home resources to continue using beyond the evening
⸻
You’ll also be welcomed with a drink and a snack because mums need looking after too!
Think of this as your Monday reset - a space to pause, reflect, and begin the week feeling more grounded and supported.
