The future is already watching us.Becoming Good Ancestors is a live gathering for those who understand that what we do now shapes what generations inherit next. We are invited to reclaim our pre-colonial ancestors' ways of being.
To help us prepare for these gatherings, you are invited to make space for authentically engaging with Sandi Boucher and her work on empowering people in relationship and reconciliation, Dr. Rocio's Decolonial Shadow work, and Resmaa Menakem's Somatic Abolitionalism. See the links below to begin actively learning.
This space exists to bring truth forward, truth about colonial harm as it lives in our bodies, in our institutions, and in the structures that shape daily life. It is also about naming the responsibility we carry to dismantle what harms, and to reimagine what is possible when we choose to live in right relationship with our pre-colonial ancestors so we can be in right relationship with the ancestors of the lands our feet is on, and with their families.
As a visitor and white-bodied settler, I am learning to be in right relationship on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. I honour my responsibility to work in a good way across the territories of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Ross River Dene Council, White River First Nation, Champagne and Aishihik First Nations, Liard First Nation, Kluane First Nation, Carcross/Tagish First Nation, Selkirk First Nation, First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun, Little Salmon/Carmacks First Nation, Teslin Tlingit Council, and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.
This gathering is an invitation to move beyond awareness into responsibility, and beyond intention into action.
