Becoming a Better Mentor: Train the Trainer equips educators, youth program leaders, and community practitioners to expand the reach of mentoring by preparing them to train others. Using the research-based Becoming a Better Mentor curriculum, participants will learn how to guide everyday adults, teachers, coaches, faith leaders, volunteers, and parents to become intentional, trusted mentors.
Through this program, trainers will be prepared to help others:
Build authentic relationships that foster belonging and resilience
- Apply practical, evidence-based strategies to listen, support, and empower youth
- Understand trauma, mental health, and cultural responsiveness
- Turn everyday interactions into meaningful mentoring moments
Why it matters:
One consistent, well-prepared mentor can change the trajectory of a young person’s life. By equipping trainers across Connecticut, we can build a network of caring adults that keeps young people connected, supported, and on track.
Join us in building a mentoring movement where every young person has someone in their corner.
This training is eligible for 21 CEUs through the Connecticut Certification Board upon completion of the multi-day course.
This training is sponsored by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
