Welcome to the launch of 'Beat Generation' a new night providing a combination of spoken word, live acoustic and electronic dance music / DJs.
Years ago, in Sydney, frustrated by the lack of deep, fun party spaces with excellent music, a number of friends and I created the kind of things we wanted.
When was the last time you got to really play and have fun on a night out?
The intention of Beat Generation is to bring something special to the Byron Shire.
The launch is happening on Saturday May 16th 2026 at Mullum Civic Hall and features:
Local poets Kathleen 'Halley Kat' Angus, Paul C Pritchard (and perhaps a few surprises?)
Kathleen, known to audiences through reading at local events, is like Australia's Andrea Gibson: funny, articulate, engaged and truly entertaining. Paul's poetry exhibits a delicacy, soulfulness and gentle power that is both heartful and uplifting.
A live acoustic set from Gold Coast- based TRILLA, a heart warrior with a voice as if someone mixed Stevie Nicks, Adele and Mazzy Star in a magical crucible dribbled into an avatar of Janis Joplin meets Melissa Etheridge! … and then some. She comes to us fresh from delighting audiences at Woodford with her combination of power, presence and music.

Visceral has supported artists such as Infected Mushroom, X- dream, Adam Freeland, Kopfus Rezonator etc and played in Sydney and Melbourne including Winterdaze, Inquisition (Leather Pride Ball), Ffierce, Freakquency (residency at Sublime), Tropical Fruits, Burning Man (USA) and at Path of Love (Aus, NZ, Bali)

Annaki Kissas, aka Sex Intents, began their career as a performance artist winning the title of Ms Wicked 1993. They created and co founded Gurlesque (the lezzo strip joint), and performed at Club Kooky, Club Bent and Sex and Subculture. As a DJ they have played at 1000 to 1, The Hoe Down, and as a 360 Emergence Facilitator.
