Course Description & Educational Goals

:

Increase participants’ knowledge of compassion satisfaction, fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout. Explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted our need to care for ourselves and clients in the helping field. Attendees will learn resiliency skills to cope with stress and empower themselves and those they work with.


Learning Objectives

1. Distinguish the differences between compassion fatigue, burnout, secondary traumatic stress, and moral injury.

2. Attendees will list three factors that contribute to compassion satisfaction.

3. Attendees will participate in a restorative circle and create a resiliency plan, to increase their professional quality of life as well as receive a template to use with their clients.


Presenter Bio:

Tara Hodgens is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked in the mental health field with diverse populations for 18 years. Tara has worked with the Y for over 15 years and in many clinical settings, including Rady’s Children’s Hospital and various clinics. She has taught courses in Psychology, Culture in Mental Health, and Behavioral Sciences. Tara conducts various staff trainings and workshops on mental health and well-being.

Certificates
:
CEU course completion certificates will be awarded at the end of the course in exchange for a completed evaluation form.
This course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. CEU certificates will be emailed once course evaluation and post-test are submitted and processed.
