This museum is ideal for steampunk and historical photos with numerous Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian and vintage settings. There are several cafés on site as well as suitable places for picnics if you are bringing your own lunch, be advised the cafes tend to get very busy around 12:30-1:30. 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁.

𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒐
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯: Beamish Museum opens at 10am and most of us will be aiming to be there for 10am. If you are coming on your own and will not be there for 10am please drop me a message so you don’t end up on your own. We usually then disperse into smaller groups and explore the site until coming together for a group photo. This year I have chosen a photo location fairly close to the fairground with the idea we may have a group carousel ride after the photo. There is a ‘horses in harness’ event taking place at the same time as our meet, this is across the site from speaking to the museum staff this will include a number horse drawn carts and vehicles. Beamish closes at 5pm.

𝘎𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦: On the museum site there is free car parking and disabled car parking (Address is: Beamish, the Living Museum of the North, Stanley, DH9 0RG). I am assured it is possible (though difficult) to reach Beamish by public transport (bus), however, this is not recommended and I wound trying to arrange car sharing if you do not drive. 𝘈𝘥𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯: entry to the museum is by annual pass at a cost of £35 for adults though discounts are available for children and for both students and seniors. The Beamish annual pass can be purchased online or at the venue though Beamish recommends advance (online) purchase. Please note that the pass is valid from date of 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 not date of use, so it is recommended you do not buy the pass significantly in advance of the event. In the past through careful planning of the event date it has been possible to attend two year’s Beamish Steampunk Meets with one annual pass (though this is not always the case).

𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 & 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐞
We will be doing a group photo at 𝟮𝗽𝗺 to give everyone time to have lunch but still be early enough for anyone who needs to leave early due to a long journey. This will not take place on the town park/green as it has in previous years as this can often be busy with picnicking families. The plan is to have the group photo in the station yard (near the Beamish Iron and Waggon Works) as that seemed to work well last year, nearer the time I will put up a map for this location. After the photo some of use will head to the carousel for more photos and a carousel ride (please note the carousel is at additional cost). If the weather is wet the group photo will instead be in Pockerly Church (near the Waggon Way) I will announce which location we will be using a day or so before the event.

𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆
Photographers are requested to be respectful and ask permission before taking photos. It is expected that photographers will make digital copies of their photos available to their subjects free of charge. No photos are to be taken while people are changing into/out of outfits, eating or undertaking other activities where either a degree of privacy may be expected or where it is apparent that they may not wish to be photographed. If you will be taking candid shots then it is expected that you will show these shots to the subjects for approval (retrospective permission) prior to publication on social media etc. It is requested that photographers use the following hashtags when sharing photos to Facebook, Instagram, X, etc. #beamishmuseum #beamishsteampunkmeet #LeedsSteampunkEmbassy #northernsteampunkcoalition in addition to the photographer and model’s own tags to allow people to easily find photos taken of them. It is requested that any editing done to photos not be undertaken using generative AI based tools to replace background’s etc.

Beamish welcomes photography for personal use, however it should be noted that photos must not be used for commercial publication without prior agreement with the museum. Please note, as per the museum’s policy the use of tripods, monopods, supplementary lighting and drones is not permitted.
