About this Event
Watch, learn & eat! Sit around the kitchen island in our beautiful Wasserstrom Culinary Kitchen and enjoy watching our skilled, entertaining chef prepare a classic Cajun / Creole meal for you while learning about the vibrant history of New Orleans cuisine!
Chef Douglas J. Weber, CEC on Fat Tuesday for a night of education, fun and really good food. One of Chef Weber’s most memorable food experiences was as an apprentice in New Orleans. He fell in love with the robust, spicy cuisine that matches the lifestyle of the city. While demonstrating some New Orleans classics, we’ll discuss the rich history of the people who created the two distinctive cuisines, Cajun and Creole. We will learn about the history of Mardi Gras, the King Cake, and the surrounding bayou which produces much of the unique foods that define the cuisines. We will wind up the evening with a tasting of gumbo, po’boys, Hurricane drinks, pralines, beignets, and finish with the cutting of the King Cake served with café au lait. Join the party—you just might find the token in your King Cake and be crowned the king of next year’s celebration!
