About this Event
During the series of guided walks, participants will become familiar with the habitat, location and structure of the nests made by different species, as well as the role of females and males in nesting and in the care of the young. Based on previous course outcomes, participants should expect to be able to observe about 15 different species actively engaged in nesting-related behavior.
Leaders: Kathleen Garrett and Mara Crawford
All sessions will be held at Eliza Howell Park in Detroit.
The course is limited to 10 participants.
This course is designed to be most fully enjoyed when paired with the ability to identify common songbird species of Southeast Michigan.
Participants are expected to attend 4 of the 5 scheduled guided walks to complete the course.
(A supplemental weekday walk can be made available for an individual who wishes to substitute a missed group session)
The leaders will periodically email participants information and/or preparation questions about the nesting practices of the species observed in the field.
The field course is scheduled on the following dates, all Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
