About this Event
Celebrate the exciting and entertaining tradition of the street dance battle at this one-night-only event. After a day of one-on-one preliminary competition, the finalists in each of the three dance forms: Breakin, Hip Hop and House will compete for bragging rights and cash prizes, in the first annual BDF x CRĀV Summer Battle. A champion will be determined by guest judges Michele “Ladybyrd” Byrd-McPhee, Anthony “YNOT” Denaro, and Emilio “Buddha Stretch” Austin Jr. The evening’s emcee is Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez and music will be provided by Daniel “DJ DP One” Pinero.
This unique evening of dance, music, and community will also feature performances by special guest artists.
This event is a BDF collaboration with CRĀV, directed by BDF faculty Shakia Barron and Duane Lee Holland Jr., and is part of a full weekend dedicated to uplifting the virtuosity and lineage of Black American artistry including a free panel discussion on Friday, July 26 and a community master class on Sunday, July 28.
