Hear from Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez, Emilio “Buddha Stretch” Austin Jr., Anthony “YNOT” Denaro, Michele “LadyByrd” Bryd-McPhee, and Daniel “DJ DP One” Pinero, in a panel discussion moderated by CRĀV Directors and beloved BDF faculty members Shakia Barron and Duane Lee Holland Jr.
This panel will trace the evolution of Black American artistic expression, celebrating its profound impact on culture, identity, and social change. These artists, scholars, and cultural ambassadors will be in dialogue around the continuum of Black Creativity across various mediums and will illuminate the significance of intergenerational relationships in the Hip Hop field.
This event is a BDF collaboration with CRĀV, directed by BDF faculty Shakia Barron and Duane Lee Holland Jr., and is part of a full weekend dedicated to uplifting the virtuosity and lineage of Black American artistry including one on one battles in Breakin, Hip Hop and House, a final performance exhibition on Saturday, July 27 and a community master class on Sunday, July 28.
