BBC's Fourth Annual Gun Violence Prevention Summit 2024.
Join BBC, RCSD, CPD, City of Columbia's Mayor's Office and various community partners for a 3 day Gun Violence Prevention Summit. This event is scheduled from Friday, July 26 thru Sunday July 28, 2024. Due to the increase in Gun Violence the past few years, Building Better Communities hosts an annual Gun Violence Prevention Summit. The summit allows BBC to meet with community members, community leaders, politicians, law enforcement and community stake holders in an effort to fight Gun Violence in our communities.
The GVPS will consist of a Teen Summit on Friday, July 26, 2024 focusing on Suicide Prevention and the Mental Health of our youths. Saturday will cover the Gun Violence Prevention Summit with key speakers covering a variety of topics designed to help communities prevent gun violence in their communities. Sunday we will end the summit with a special church service at a local church.
There will be 5 topics we discuss along with trainings:
1. EDUCATION: Implement BBC’s gun violence prevent program to address: suicide, domestic violence & human suffering.
2. FAITH: Raise awareness of gun violence prevention through faith based organizations.
3. LEGISLATIVE: Help identify legislators that support our cause. BBC will train volunteers on how to write letters, attend hearings and call/meet legislators.
4. HEALTH: Address mental health guidelines for gun purchases, usage, etc. BBC will provide information pertaining to suicide, domestic violence, collateral damage, etc.
5. COMMUNITY: We will address, Safe Neighborhood Solutions, Gangs, Community Action, Unsupervised children, safe schools & re-entry of formerly incarcerated youths and adults.

BBC’s focus is on the expansion of its core pillars of community and family safety, education, voter registration, economic development, health and wellness, record expungement, gun violence and reentry to society to improve the quality of life in disadvantaged communities.
