About this Event
Sir Joseph Bazalgette was one of the greatest of all London engineers and regarded world wide as a leading engineering consultant. He is mostly remembered for designing and building the Victorian sewage system in London in the 19th century. This momumental and vast system eradicated the deadly disease cholera from London which had been killing residents in thousands. BUT...he designed and built so much more of London's infrastructure which still exists today. They include, The Albert,Victoria and Chelsea Embankments, major thoroughfares and redesigned major bridges as well as two pumping stations, known as the cathedrals of industry. Come and join me on The Albert Embankment and learn more about this truly revolutionary man. The walk ends by visiting the very new public spaces created here by Tideway,The Effra Quay and The Isle of Effra.
