Where: Jack Dunster Marine Biological Reserve, Ocean Boulevard and 62nd Place, Long Beach, CA

ALL AGES WELCOME!

Join Clean Bay Collective's guided Bay Health Walk at Jack Dunster Marine Biological Reserve, where we’ll explore all that this unique coastal habitat has to offer while taking a closer look at what our local environment is telling us about the health of Alamitos Bay!

The is a 2.7 acre natural habitat that includes both land and shallow water environments along the Los Cerritos Channel near Marine Stadium. Designed as a place for recreation and education, the reserve provides an accessible way for the public to experience coastal ecosystems up close and observe California native plants.

We’ll walk through the reserve and explore its importance to the health of Alamitos Bay, seeing how this space brings conservation and community access together in one place. Along the way, we’ll talk about how land, water, and human activity are connected, and how simple observations can support community science and stewardship.

This is a casual, beginner friendly walk designed for anyone who is curious about the bay. No prior experience is needed. Just bring comfortable shoes and an interest in learning more about the place we live.

What to Expect:

  • A relaxed, guided walk at an easy pace
  • Exploration of the reserve’s habitats and features
  • Opportunities to ask questions and share observations
  • A chance to see the bay through a science and place-based lens

Whether you are interested in community science, local environmental health, or simply spending time outside with neighbors, this walk is a great way to connect with Alamitos Bay and the people who care about it!
