Museum of 20th Century Warfare (M20CW) and Fort Harrison State Park will host a 2 day living history event of the Battle of Hürtgen Forest set in November of 1944. There will be a public battle on Saturday November 22nd (see the event page for more info) to demonstrate the unique battle and struggle of the forested terrain. The Battle of Hürtgen Forest was a series of battles fought from 19 September to 16 December 1944, between American and German forces on the Western Front during World War II, in the Hürtgen Forest, a 140 km2 (54 sq mi) area about 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the Belgian–German border. Lasting 88 days, it was the longest battle on German ground during World War II.
Sunday Schedule:
1000 - US & German Infantry Kit Talk
1100 - Presentation on German Pionier Equipment
1200 - Presentation on the US Infantry Squad
1430 (2:30 PM) - Displays and camps close.
There is no charge for this event but normal state park gate fees apply.
