Join collage artist and guide Rich Garr for a bicycle tour through the heart of brownstone Brooklyn exploring moments and memorials relating to the Battle of Long Island.
The bike tour begins under the newly refurbished Grand Army Plaza Arch. We'll wind through Prospect Park before heading to the Old Stone House in Park Slope. Here we'll have a short break and a mini-tour of this incredible site of the Battle's climax. Then we follow the troop retreat route through Gowanus, Bourum Hill & into stately Brooklyn Heights. The tour will end overlooking Brooklyn Bridge Park and the water that Washington and his troops quietly crossed 249 years ago. Fort locations, historical quotes, and a custom soundtrack will be featured amongst other surprises.
The ride is about 2.5 hours and 6 miles. Bike rental is not included, though is available very close to the starting point at Ride Brookly bike shop on Bergen Street. Citi Bike stations are also along the route. Please bring water, and a helmet.
Tickets for this special annual ride are limited to ensure a safe and intimate experience. Act fast to ensure a spot.
