In contrast, BassX, led by GRAMMY-nominated sousaphonist Julius McKee, reimagines that lineage through a progressive jazz approach, reclaiming the sousaphone’s historic role as a driving bass voice. Together, the two groups showcase the evolving story of New Orleans music: one rooted firmly in tradition and the other pushing that tradition boldly forward."
