🎶 Bassoona Matata! 🎶Because life is better with more bassoon.
Grab your friends and join bassoonist Michael Hanley and pianist Sidney Yin for an afternoon of unapologetically fun, surprisingly beautiful, and occasionally mischievous music in “Bassoona Matata!” This recital proves once and for all that the bassoon is way cooler than you remember. And even better, this is a fundraiser for Blue Lake Fine Art's Camp's Lifelong Arts Program.
The recital features works by Pierné, Hindemith, Fauré, Barbara York, and Lisa Neher, serving up everything from lush lyricism to playful twists—with plenty of low notes, big personality, and musical charm to go around.
Things get extra spicy with a bassoon quartet, where Michael will be joined by Mandy Tomlinson, Nick Verbanic, and Jessica Dorado for a full-on celebration of bassoon camaraderie and glorious sonic chaos (the good kind).
